
On Friday, Sept. 13, while members of the Castle Country were getting to enjoy the homecoming game between Emery and Carbon, members of the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, Helper Police Department, Wellington Police Department, and the Utah Highway Patrol were running an administrative checkpoint on State Road 6. It was during this checkpoint, that officials were able to seize 90 pounds of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.
Officer Lara Olsen made contact with a car from Texas with the HPD identifying the occupants as Taylor Tarazon and Annette Bonner, both residents of Texas. Olsen identified the scent of cannabis coming from the car.
Working quickly, Officer Olsen searched the vehicle, discovering that the car contained $10,000, 90 pounds of marijuana, personal marijuana products and other paraphernalia. Bonner and Tarazon were both arrested and booked into the Emery County Jail.
In a news release by the HPD, the organization stated,” This investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time. We would like to thank the UHP and the ECSO for their assistance throughout this investigation.
