Frank Walter Burgess Sr., age 65, passed away at his home in Elmo, Utah, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer on September 17, 2024.
He was born on November 4, 1958, in Anaheim, California to Percy Burgess and Edna Mae Burgess. Frank’s journey was one of love, laughter, and unwavering strength.
Frank married Carol Vanwaggoner, and together they welcomed two boys before parting ways. He then married the love of his life, Shelly Chapman, in March of 1995 in Las Vegas, NV.
Frank was a very hard worker and worked as a crane operator for most of his life. But he was always busy doing something outside in the yard or fixing something. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, and as his granddaughter would say, “He could build a car with some scrap metal and duct tape.” His grandkids all looked up to him and believed him to be the strongest man in the world. “A hero without a cape.”
Frank’s soul found harmony in the outdoors camping and fishing. He was very passionate about his fishing, and he cherished moments by the water with his best friend and brother, Rolland, and his dog Steve by his side.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shelly Burgess of Moab, UT; brother, Rolland Burgess (Monica) Elmo, UT; sister, Margo Gould of Perth, Australia; sons, Frank Walter Burgess Jr. (Brandy), Elmo, UT, Allen Burgess, Las Vegas, NV, and Nathan Madsen (Brittney) Elmo, UT. A very special place in his heart was held by his granddaughter, Hannah Mae, whom he adopted and raised from the age of five; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Percy Burgess and Edna May Burgess; and brother, George Burgess.
Per Frank’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Frank online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
