In Emery County, one topic ingrained in the public mind is the paranormal. Whether it be old tales shared around the campfire or the personal experiences of a friend, residents of Emery County love to be spooked. To help feed this public interest, the Museum of the San Rafael is preparing to host their fourth annual EmCo Paranormal Con on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12.
Castle Country Radio sat down with Lead Museum Specialist Belinda Peacock to talk about the things that go bump in the night.
Opening our conversation, Peacock discussed some of the featured speakers at the convention,” Maren Doyle has been attending our Emco con for all the years we’ve had it. She is a crypto hobbyist and she’s going to be talking about experiences, creatures, and creatures that dwell outside the common realm.”
Other speakers at the convention include Cartomancer Seval Burr, Bigfoot eyewitness Daryl Wilson, Phantom Regiment CEO Amanda Hamaker and author John Olsen.
On top of the speakers, the EmCo Paranormal Con will have a wide variety of activities such as tarot card readings, a sound bath and fireside ghost stories. “, I always like the fireside ghost stories. That’s always a lot of fun and you can come and tell your own stories. Everybody has a good time doing that.” explained Peacock.
Another highlight of the convention will be the haunted hayrides that will occur on Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. “Neal Peacock is the one that’s going to host that. And he does a fantastic job.” This is an activity that Neal Peacock has been hosting since his time as a teacher at Emery High School that takes participants to the hottest haunts that the county has to offer.
Other activities include a paranormal escape room, an 18+ ghost hunt and a live DJ dance party/ costume contest.
Peacock explained some of the ticket levels and what is included with them,” We have four different ticket levels. We have the VIP specter that includes a custom EMF detector for the first 40 who sign up, one photo at a photo, at the photo booth. A spooky special that includes a hay ride ticket, a photo and an escape room ticket. Our general admission includes a photo, a hayride and an escape room ticket. And our A la carte which includes a hayride ticket”
A full list of ticket levels and what is included with them can be found here.
“ Just be sure and hop on emerycounty.org and get your tickets … hop on there and look and see what’s going on,” said Peacock, ending our conversation.
