It was a gritty 90 minutes between Utah State Eastern and the College of Southern Idaho on Thursday afternoon with the home team claiming a hard-fought 2-1 victory. Southern Idaho struck first in the 6th minute when Caique Maia capitalized on a pass from Loic Thomas, but USU Eastern quickly responded. Midfielder Brennen Lamont found the back of the net in the 23rd minute, assisted by Armando Escobedo, leveling the match before halftime.
The second half saw USU Eastern’s defense hold firm while their offense continued to push forward. The game-winning goal came in the 56th minute when defender Sam Bromley converted a well-placed assist from Boston Peterson, giving the Eagles a crucial 2-1 lead. Goalkeeper Thiago Moreira stood strong between the posts, saving two of Southern Idaho’s shots and securing the win.
USU Eastern (3-4-2, 3-2) will remain at home as they welcome another conference foe, Truckee Meadows Community College (4-5-1, 2-4), on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
