Harold G. Pruitt Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024 in the twilight hours with his family who loved him dearly.
Harold was the first born of three boys of Harold G. Sr. and Marion Roebuck Pruitt on April 21, 1943 in Newburgh, New York. Harold and his family moved to the west to settle in East Carbon, Utah. (Dragerton). Throughout his childhood, Harold and his family loved the small community where he made many friends. Harold graduated from East Carbon Highschool with his class of 1961-1962.
Harold met the love of his life, Camilla L. Motte, who he swept her off her feet, and soon after were married on March 15, 1963 in Price, Utah. Soon after, Harold and Camilla started their family and had two children, Teresa Herrera and Robert Pruitt. They moved from Price, to Green River Utah for a year where Harold worked and became the highest paid service attendant. Later the following year, Teresa was born and Harold and Camillia moved to Moab, Utah where Harold served his community as a law enforcement officer. After six years, Harold and his family moved back to Price, Utah where he worked at Horse Canyon coal mine until it closed. During this time Harold served his community and raised his children. While Robert and Teresa were getting into sports, Harold is remembered by being the president of Wellington Little league. He worked at raising funds to improve the baseball field. One of the core beliefs as a coach and mentor was all players must play the game. Harold was a well known and respected member of our community. He was a member of Elks Lodge #1550 for 55 years.
Harold held many jobs, and became a master of all trades and became fond of construction and carpentry. He gained a lot of his carpentry knowledge from working at Kilfoyle Krafts Lumber Store. Harold and Camilla built their dream in paradise; a cabin in Minnie Maud Canyon. During the construction of their cabin, he made sure that all his family participated from building the foundation to the roof, strengthening the bond of his family to preserve his love to his and Camillas’ paradise. After their cabin was built, he started his position as a delivery driver for Peczuh Printing which he loved very much. In the year 2000, he left to become a fulltime stay-at-home husband and grandfather. His days soon became retirement, and he stepped into the position of chief cook, and bottle washer. He loved his wife, and took on the role of household duties to support Camilla. This transition of life is where he excelled.
During this time his passions and hobbies were enjoyed to the fullest. He loved spending his summers improving on his cabin with his sweetheart by his side, making many lovely memories that would make his blue eyes sparkle and his smile brighten the hearts of those around him. Harold loved the fall where he taught his grandchildren about hunting, four-wheeling, cooking his Dutch oven outdoor meals and grill. Harold loved to travel with Camilla and every grandchild, visiting various historical and meaningful places across the United States. Harold, loved his family very much and lived his life through the eyes of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold adored his grandchildren. They had a special place in his heart. He would move heaven and earth for all of them.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Camilla L. Pruitt; brother, Jim Pruitt (Sue); children, Teresa (Tony), Robert (Kristy); six grandchildren, Randy (Ashley) Herrera, Shaylin Jensen, Daniel Pruitt (Taycee), Kayla Pruitt (Devon), Kezley Pruitt, Heather Pruitt; and 13 great-grandchildren, whom he spoiled, adored and loved; as well as many nieces and nephews.
