As is tradition in the Castle Country Area, along with the changing seasons and the cooler weather comes the Ascension St. Matthews Church will host its Fall Fare on Friday, Oct. 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. To learn more about the upcoming event, Castle Country Radio sat down with Pastor Angela Chacón to learn more about what the Fall Fare will hold.
With the weather cooling down, people will look for warmer meals to help keep them sustained and heated up. The Fall Fare aids in this by offering attendees a variety of soups and other goods to choose from. “ I am going to be making a hamburger soup,” explained Chacón,” there will be different choices, whether they’re meat lovers or somebody who wants a vegetable soup, there will be a variety of soups to choose from.” Attendees can get a bowl of soup and a roll for $8 or a quart of soup and two rolls for $13.
In addition to the soups, the Fall Fare will also have several homemade baked goods and handcrafted items available for purchase. “ We have a lot of softgoods, such as blankets, pillows and quilts. A lot of the items have been painstakingly embroidered by hand by women of the church who have been so generous in donating their time and their talent to support the ministries of the church.” Chacón continued,” We also have religious items. We have some crosses that have been blessed and were from the Holy Land. We have some jewelry and some artwork. There are a plethora of different items in this gift shop and we’re excited for people to come out, take a look, and hopefully go home with something that they’ve fallen in love with.”
The event will also have a silent auction for artwork, and an opportunity drawing which will feature prizes from over 20 different donors that will be given away. Chacón explained what the money raised from the Fall Fare will go to,” The money that comes out of the fundraiser helps us to continue offering opportunities for the community to come and go out and serve the community in different ways … we appreciate the people of Price and their big hearts and their willingness to come out and support us in giving back to the community.”
