Gustavo Alonso Mendoza Vega was born on November 25, 1988, in the city of Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. Gustavo was taken to be in God’s loving arms too early in life, at the age of 35, on September 26, 2024, in a tragic accident
In 1997, Gustavo and his family moved to Price, Utah where he attended school and participated in multiple activities at Carbon High School, such as football and baseball. He graduated high school early, then attended College of Eastern Utah (USU) and received his degree in welding, following in his father’s footsteps.
He was a member of both pool and dart leagues for many years and won many prizes and awards. Gustavo loved to go fishing with his family and friends. He loved cooking for others and taking time to golf with those close to him. He also enjoyed target practice shooting and loved working on his vehicles. Gustavo was a proud Catholic who took great joy in helping others.
Gustavo was a proud member of the E Clampus Vitus in Helper (a non-profit fraternal organization and children’s charity). Gustavo was a big part of the Helper community, and everyone knew him for his many contributions. Gustavo loved to go on walks in Helper, especially on the Helper Walkway.
Gustavo would light up any place that he was in. He will be remembered as a very smart and funny person that always had a story to share with anyone who would listen (many of them interesting, and some of them inappropriate). His mission in life was to make people laugh.
Gustavo is survived by his loving wife, Lyndsie Riddle-Burgess; his mother, Belen Vega Zambrano; his twin brother, Octavio Mendoza; his older brother, Carlos Mendoza; and his sister, Aide Flores.
Gustavo was preceded by his uncle, Pablo Vega; his cousin, Angel Roberto Nevarez Vega; and his father, Salvador Mendoza Varela.
He loved his parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces. He was known and loved wherever he would go. Gustavo will be in our hearts forever.
