Wednesday the Utah High School Activities Association released the final RPI for 1A baseball and the Green River Pirates landed in the No. 12 spot. The Pirates finished the season 4-11 overall with a 2-10 mark in region play.
Green River finished the season going 2-3 suffering losses against Panguitch ( No. 1), Wayne (No. 10), and Piute (No. 4), and collected a pair of wins against Utah Military Academy Hill Field.
The Pirates will get underway with their post-season on Friday when they will travel to American Fork to take on the American Heritage Patriots who finished their regular season 12-7 and 8-0 and closed out the season in the No. 5 spot in the RPI. The Patriots had a rough start to their season losing to some of the same teams that the Pirates had issues with, but then they turned things around and have not lost a contest since August 24 when they fell to the Valley Buffalos and then went on an eight-game win streak to close out the season.
The winner of the competition will move on to face the winner of the Piute and Utah Military Academy Hill Field, on October 7 at Snow Canyon High School in St. George.
