On Friday, the season ended for the Pinnacle Panthers baseball squad. Traveling to Altamont to face the No. 3 Longhorns. The Panthers had no answer for the trio of pitchers Altamont put in front of them only to collect one hit in the 16-1 loss that ended their season.

Altamont came out in the bottom of the first putting up nine runs, and didn’t put on the brakes, adding six more in the second and one in the bottom of the third taking a 16-0 lead into the fourth inning.

In the fourth, Carlos Alcon scored for the Panthers on a pitcher’s error to get Pinnacle’s only run on the scoreboard, and Altamont earned the 16-1 victory to move on in the State Championships.

Bryson Shumway collected a hit for the Panthers, and Alcon scored one run.

Brody Howell got the start on the mound going 2.0 innings surrendering 16 runs, eight earned on 12 hits, striking out two. Shumway came in next going 1.0 inning giving up an earned run on one hit.

The Panthers ended the season 3-15 overall and 0-12 overall and they held the No. 24 spot in the final RPI.
