On Sunday, Oct. 6 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered to watch the Faith’s biannual General Conference. During the conference, President of the Church Russel M. Nelson announced 17 new temples for the faith, with one being announced in Price Utah.
In a news release from the church, it reads,” The Price Utah Temple will be the first house of the Lord in Carbon County, located in eastern Utah. Price is the county seat of Carbon County.” Utah is home to the church’s world headquarters, as well as holding a population of nearly 2.2 million members.
Currently in Utah, there are 20 temples in full operation. At the time of writing, including the newly announced Price, Utah temple, 11 temples are either under renovation/construction or planned for construction in the near future.
Globally, the faith will now have 367 temples.
No timeline for the temple’s construction has been released, nor has any information as to where the structure will be located in Price.
This story will be updated as new information becomes available.
