Minnie Anice Behunin, age 80, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Anice passed away due to complications of a stroke.
Anice was born December 4, 1943 in Fort Duchesne, Utah to David H. and Minnie Ruth Pennington Rich. She began her life living in Nine Mile Canyon and at the age of five she and her family moved to Wellington, Utah.
Anice met the love of her life, Darel Dean Behunin when she was 19. They married and made their home in Price, Utah. Together, they shared 48 years of marriage. Darel preceded Anice in death in 2011.
Anice was a loyal member of The American Legion Auxiliary Post 3 for the past 63 years. She was awarded The American Legion Woman of the Year in 2013. Anice was extremely talented with her hands and spent many, many years quilting and embroidering. Anice loved socializing, playing cards and board games, and of course her favorites, Mexican Train, Bunco, and Bingo. Not to mention, Anice was very competitive at them all. She loved traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed canning and pie making. She was known for her famous apple pie and potato salad. Anice has left a legacy of homemaking skills that will be treasured for many generations. If she wasn’t busy working or playing; she just wasn’t happy!
Anice always enjoyed spending her winters in Quartzsite, Arizona and made it a point to leave before the snow flies. She would dry camp in the desert with her husband, Darel for a few months out of the year in their camp trailer. After Darel, passed away she later met her life companion, Merrille Maloof. Together, the two of them kept the tradition going and created many friendships and memorable memories. They enjoyed the Quartzsite life and their Arizona family as snowbirds.
