
The Lady Spartans found themselves in a throwdown Tuesday night in Mount Pleasant when they faced the No.2 North Sanpete Hawks. Emery dropped the opening set but came back and forced a fifth set for the ages. Emery earned the 3-2 win to move to 12-8 overall on the season.
The Lady Spartans have a 7-5 mark in Region 12 play and sit in the No. 7 in the latest RPI.
Tuesday night, the Spartans knew that they would be in for a battle as North Sanpete jumped out in the first set to take a 25-18 win. The Lady Spartans came roaring back in the next two sets to claim a 25-22 win in the second and a 25-12 win in the third, to take the two sets to one lead.
In set number three North Sanpete came back to tie things up 25-21 and forced a fifth and final set.
Both teams wanted the fifth set so it was already set to go down to the wire, but the Lady Spartans found a way to close out the Hawks and take a 19-17 win.
The Lady Spartans will travel to Richfield to take part in the Sevier Valley Tournament on the campus of Snow College Richfield. Over two days Emery will face five different opponents.
