
The Emery Lady Spartans soccer team began play in the 3A State Championships on Saturday on the road in Herriman against the Providence Hall Patriots. The Patriots came out in the first half and scored four goals and then put one more in the back of the net to take the 5-2 win, ending the Lady Spartans’ season.
Emery entered the game with the Patriots in the No. 18 spot in the final RPI of the season, Providence Hall (4-12 overall and 2-4 in the region)ended the regular season in the No. 15 position.
The Patriots held the Lady Spartans scoreless in the first half and were able to send four home to take a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Coming out in the second half, The Lady Spartans found some offense putting up two goals, but Providence Hall had built a lead plus added one more to take the 5-2 win.
Emery ends the season 0-18 overall with a 0-14 mark on Region 12 play. The Lady Spartans also had a very young team this season, and the underclassmen will bring their experience with them next season when next school year rolls around.
