Emery Girls Volleyball made their annual trip to Richfield for the Sevier Valley Tournament on the campus of Snow College. Just two games remain on their schedule in the regular season, and the Sevier Valley Tourney has been a great way to get teams ready for the upcoming playoff season. The Lady Spartans ended the weekend 3-2.

The weekend started with Emery taking on Rich. The Spartans came out to take the highly contested first set 25-23. In set number two, Emery was able to close the door, 25-20.

In Friday’s second and final game, the Spartans faced the team from Pine View High School in St. George.  Emery came out taking a win in the first set 25-18 and then closed out their opponent 25-20 in the second.

In the opening game on Saturday morning. they would face the Panguitch Bobcats. The Lady Spartans jumped out to a lead in the first set winning 25- 21. Moving into the second set it was another Emery win 25-16, moving their weekend to 3-0 with a pair of contests to go.

In the second game of Saturday Emery would face Parowan. Parowan would come out to take a win in the first set 25-16. Set number two was much closer but the Lady Spartans came up on the short end as Parowan handed them a 26-24 loss.

In the fifth and final, match of the weekend, Emery would face North Summit. The Braves overwhelmed the Spartans in the opening set 25-6. The second set was a bit more competitive with North Summit earning a 25-17 victory.

The third set was a battle and Emery fought their way to a 26-24 win, but the Braves came back to beat the Lady Spartans 25-18 in the fourth and final set to take the 4-1 match win.

Emery goes on the road on Tuesday to face the No.1 ranked Canyon View Falcons in Cedar City.
