
Over the weekend the Lady Dinos volleyball team traveled the campus of Snow College in Richfield for the Sevier Valley Tournament, where they faced five teams in two days. With the regular season coming to an end, this is a warm-up to the playoffs that will begin on October 26. Carbon was able to collect a couple of wins ending the weekend 2-3.
In the opening game of the weekend, Carbon faced South Sevier. The Lady Dinos came out taking a win in the opening set 25-22, but the Rams came back taking a win 25-17 in the second set and then again 25-7 in the final set to close out Carbon 2-1.
In the second and final game on Friday night Carbon would face Pine View from St. George. Carbon was on the offensive taking both sets by the same 25-21 score to even out their record at the end of day one, 1-1.
On Saturday, Carbon got back on the court to square up with Grantsville. The Cowboys couldn’t counter anything that the Lady Dinos were giving them as Carbon swept them 25-16 and 25-12.
Next up for the Dinos was the Payson Lions. Payson jumped out to take a win in the first set which was hard fought 25-23. The Lions also claimed victory in set number 2 with a 25-12 win.
In the final match of the weekend, Carbon took on the South Sevier Rams once again in a match that was extremely close going four sets. In the opening set Carbon earned a 25-23 win marking their only set win in the match. South Sevier came out in set two earning a 28-26 win, then in the next set grabbed another win 26-24. The Rams closed out Carbon in the fourth and final set 25-22.
Carbon heads out on the road Tuesday to face the Manti Templars (6-17 and No. 15). On September 17, the Templars were in Price, and the Lady Dinos earned a 3-0 win.
