One thing that residents of the Carbon Corridor love is Halloween. Each year when October rolls around, residents go wild for all things spooky. As a result of this, there are a plethora of Trunk or Treat events all across the Corridor. One of these events is hosted by Castleview Hospital and will take place Saturday, Oct. 19 in the Castleview Urgent Care Parking lot.
To speak on the event, Castle Country Radio was joined by Jamie Fox from Castleview, who discussed frights, spooks and fun.
This year marks the seventh anniversary of the event, and with that, we asked Fox what attendees should expect from the trunk or treat. “ We started seven years ago and had no idea what to expect and have been blessed and overjoyed each year by the amount of people from our community that come out,” she continued,” I try to add a few more surprises that no one’s expecting. We’ll feed you and we’ll just have a wonderful time.”
People who attend the event will receive a free hot dog dinner, making it perfect for a night out with the family.
Fox then broke down what she enjoys most about helping plan and host events like this,” My favorite part is at the end of the day when it’s over, and I take in the amount of kids and the smiles on their faces. As well as how much this meant to our community, and how heartwarming it is to know that we could do that.”
Along with Halloween, a lot of parents get worried about what their children are getting up to on this haunted night. But Fox provided reassurance by explaining the different safety measures that will be present at the trunk or treat,” We have that street blocked off so that once you get close to the building and then you get inside the parking lot, there’s no cars, there’s no fear of watching your kids run off or something. Everybody is there, it’s safe, you’re enclosed, and you can just enjoy yourself.”
Not wanting to spoil the surprises for the night, Fox was tight-lipped about what may be in store, but she did offer hints by talking about past surprises,” last year we did have a cheerleading team that came and did a flash mob. I would say maybe you could expect a few more of those or maybe a few more roaming characters you’re not thinking about and maybe a few more trunks that you don’t expect. But for sure you’re going to be surprised.”
Our penultimate topic of discussion was the importance of giving back to the community through events like this, with Fox stating,” This is our community, and we want people to know that we’re here. But we also want them to know that we want to take care of them in other ways than just if you have to go to the hospital or you have to see a physician. We are here to help and support in other ways.”
Closing us out Fox shared,” Just come. You will not be disappointed. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Your kids will have a great day and it’s a family fun event.”
Castleview Hospital’s Trunk or Treat will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Castleview Urgent Care parking lot at 317 East, 100 North in Price. To stay up to date with Castleview you can find the hospital on Facebook or its website.
