
On Wednesday, the Lady Dinos started their playoff run when the North Sanpete Hawks came to Price. Both teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half, but Carbon found the back of the net five times to take the 5-0 win, as the Lady Dinos will move on in the playoffs.
The Hawks entered with a 5-13 record and held the No. 12 spot in the final RPI of the season.
Both squads were in a defensive battle in the first half as they played to a scoreless tie at the end heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Dinos turned up their offense, finding the back of the net five times. On the defensive end, they held the Hawks without a goal to take the 5-0 shutout and advance to the State Championships.
Blythe Bradford scored two goals for Carbon, and Chrissy Jones scored two more and earned one assist. Bailey Johnson had a goal and an assist and Kenzie Morgan collected another assist in the win for the Lady Dinos. Madi Barlow collected the shutout for Carbon.
Carbon now moves on to face the Morgan Trojans on Saturday on the Trojans home field.
Morgan has a 13-5 win and holds the No. 4 spot in the RPI. They punched their ticket with an 8-0 win against the Juab Wasps. Morgan and Carbon have a pair of common opponents in Juab and Union, with both teams (Carbon and Morgan) earned wins.
Gametime is set for 1:00 on Saturday in Morgan.
