The Emery Spartan Golf team traveled to The Ridge Golf Club for the two-day 3A State Golf Championships. Competing through both days the Spartans were able to secure a tenth-place finish out of 18 teams.
Richfield earned the top finish in the team competition with a two-day total of 570. Morgan finished in second just three strokes behind with a 573. Carbon shot a 584 to take third. Union had a 588 and Juab finished in fifth with a 608. Emery landed in tenth shooting a 653. Morgan’s Lance Loughton shot a two-day total of 136 to get to four under par to take the top individual award.
Champ Justice had the low round for the Spartans with a 75 on the first day and an 83 on the second for a total of 158 tying him for 31st. Dempsey Toomer was right behind shooting a 78 on day one and following that up with an 82 on day two earning a 160, landing him in an overall tie for 35th place. Alex Hansen shot an 80 on day one and an 87 on day two to put him in a tie for 46th, and Bronx Olsen carded an 80 and an 88 to give him 168, for a tie at 50th. Brendon Behunin (tie for 69th), and Crew Behling (73) rounded out the crew for the Spartans.
This closes out the 2024 golf season. Emery earned a fifth-place finish at the region tournament and a tenth-place finish at the state tournament
