003-16

Back in August, the Lady Dinos soccer team started their season with one thing on their minds: a State Championship. Saturday, their run came to an end at the hands of last year’s runner-up, the Morgan Trojans, on their home field. Carbon couldn’t find a way around the Trojans’ defense as they shut out the Dinos 5-0.

Carbon punched their ticket to the quarterfinals after beating the North Sanpete Hawks last Wednesday 5-0 in Price to move on and face Morgan. The Trojans earned their spot by defeating the Juab Wasps 8-0.

Saturday’s game started quickly for the Trojans. They scored three goals in the first half and held the Lady Dinos scoreless, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Carbon kept searching for a weakness in Morgan’s defense but could find none as the Trojans were able to find the back of the net two more times to hand the Dinos a 5-0 loss ending their season.

Morgan will now take on the No.1 ranked Judge Memorial Bulldogs on Thursday, with the winner moving on to the State Championship game on Saturday.

Carbon’s season ends in the quarterfinals for the fifth straight year.  They ended the 2024 campaign with a 12-6 overall record and a 9-5 mark in the final RPI of the season.
