The Lady Panthers and Lady Pirates met on the volleyball court for the final time this regular season at the Pinnacle gym in Price on Tuesday night. And while it was Senior Night, and Pinnacle celebrated its seniors, it was Green River that came away with the straight-set win.
Orionna Manchester, Luz Ruelas, Jostyn McLean, and Heather Kerr will all move on after this school year for Pinnacle.
The first match between these two was a battle with Green River earning a 3-2 win. In this one, the Panthers came out in a very balanced first set but the Pirates got the edge taking a 25-21 win. The opening set must have taken something out of the Lady Panthers as Green River took a quick 25-12 win in set two. The third and what would become the final set was a bit more competitive but the Lady Pirates once again earned a 25-18 win, sweeping Pinnacle in three sets.
Elizabeth Argomaniz had six kills to go with six total blocks and five digs for Green River. Rosa Barragan had 10 digs and five service aces, and Nora Barragan added six kills and five service aces in the win.
Jazmyne Mullis had four kills and three digs for the Lady Panthers while Jostyn McLean added eight digs and Heather Kerr had two service aces in the loss.
Pinnacle ends the season with a 4-13 overall record and a 0-8 mark in region play.
Green River closed out their campaign with a 4-10 mark overall and 2-6 in the region.
On Wednesday the Utah High School Activities Association will release the final RPI for 1A volleyball, along with the bracket for the State Championships, which start on Saturday at home sites.
