On Wednesday morning the Utah High School Activities Association released their final RPI for girl’s volleyball along with the brackets for the 3A State Championships. Emery earned the No. 5 seed and Carbon took the No. 14 spot.

Canyon View earned the No. 1 spot with a 26-2 record, followed by North Sanpete in second. Union, Morgan, and Emery rounded out the top five. Richfield, Summit Academy, South Summit, Delta, and Grantsville went 6-10. Ogden, Providence Hall, Manti, Carbon, Judge Memorial, Juab, Juan Diego, and Ben Lomond made up the rest of the rankings.

Emery finished the regular season 16-11 and landed in the No. 5 spot earning a first-round bye which means that they won’t get started until Friday, November 1 when they will face No. 12 Providence Hall at Utah Valley University, the two teams met up last season in August in a tournament setting.  A win for the Spartans moves them into the next round to face the winner of the No. 4 Morgan and No. 13 Manti match-up.

Carbon ended the regular season with an 8-19 mark and claimed the No. 14 spot. They will also receive a first-round bye and will face No. 3 Union, on Friday as well. Carbon and Union met up in the Lady Dinos’ first game of the season, the Cougars handed Carbon a 3-1 loss. A win against Union will move Carbon into the next round to face the winner of the No. 6 Richfield and No.11 Ogden contest.

The 3A State Championships will wrap up on Saturday, November 2 when a new champion will be crowned.
