
Clara Pretiger Rutherford, age 85, passed away October 23, 2024 at Pinnacle Care & Rehabilitation in Price.
She was born January 12, 1939 in Montrose, Colorado to John and Mary Applehanz Pretiger. On August 29, 1959, she married Sherry Rutherford at the Notre Dame de Loudes Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on February 12, 2021.
Clara and Sherry built their family home together in 1966, and she took great pride in caring for her home, yard, and garden. She was a true perfectionist in all she did.
A graduate of Carbon High School, she later went on to attend the College of Eastern Utah and received her Associates in 1983. Clara worked for First Federal Bank for many years and eventually retired from Washington Federal Bank in Salt Lake City.
Every year at Christmas time, Clara would bake one month prior to the holidays with her sisters. She loved baking, spending time with family and caring for her beloved dogs. She also enjoyed listening to music and watching General Hospital.
Clara will be missed by her loving children; Jodi (Steve) Johnson, Price, Jeff Rutherford, Salt Lake City, Mark (deceased) and Teri Rutherford, Price; sister, Shirley Zupon, Price; grandchildren, Christopher, Levi, Eric, Michael, Sara, Carlie, Jace and Abby; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sherry Rutherford; son, Mark Rutherford; grandson, Michael S. Johnson; four sisters, Lucille Winkler, Helen Guymon, Margie Allred and Evelyn Pretiger; and a brother, John Pretiger.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Potter, the staff at Pinnacle Care & Rehabilitation, and Elevate Home Health & Hospice for their superb care of Clara over the last several months. They would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to her dear friend Jo, and especially to Bradie and her special nurses Amber and Michelle from Elevate, for their never-ending kindness and special weekly visits.
Funeral Mass, Monday, October 28, 2024, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass. Committal service will follow in the Price City Cemetery.
