Dana Michele Axelgard passed peacefully, in her sleep on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Mushy was a very kind, caring, creative and energetic lady. She could make any place or anything beautiful using her artistic talents. Her extravagance and “go big or go home” attitude is remembered and loved by her children.
Michele was born on April 24, 1962 in Price, Utah to Michael and Deanna Rogers Axelgard. The family lived in Price for several years and then moved to Idaho and later Scottsdale, Arizona as Mick worked in the tire industry. The family returned to Price in 1977 and Mick rejoined the family business, Dinosaur Tire, a business staple in Carbon County that was founded by her Grandfather Walt.
Michele was a proud graduate of Carbon High’s Class of 1980. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Salt Lake where she attended college and worked for her Aunt Darlene. It was during this time that she met and married Dave Johnson. They returned to Price and Dave joined the ranks at Dinosaur. These were fun years for them and in November of 1985 Dave and Michele welcomed their son, David Michael to the family. Dave and Michele went separate ways but remained friends.
In 1993 Michele met Doug Felice. Doug served in the first Gulf War and Michele was swept away by her handsome soldier. They received their first daughter Mikayla Deann, a very special spirit that was called back to heaven at the tender age of three years old. Doug and Michele next received their daughter Mikenzie Deanna into their family. Mikenzie was a bright spot and brought a lot of life and energy to the family. Doug and Michele later separated, but remained friends.
Michele is survived by her son, David Michael Johnson (Cara); daughter, Mikenzie Nielsen (Jake); only granddaughter, Addalynn Hreinson; aunts and uncles, Kevin and Bonnie Axelgard, Scott Axelgard, Julie and Ron Jarvis, LeAnna Axelgard, Darlene Pickering, many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and her very best friend and caregiver, Fred Passarella whom she adored.
Preceded in death by her parents Mick and Deanna; grandparents, Walter T and June Okelberry Axelgard, and Richard and Ruth Rogers, Wally Axelgard, Hale Pickering; special cousins, Dodi Jensen, Todd Jensen, and Jessica Axelgard, and her real-life precious moments baby girl, Mikayla.
