The fun never ends in Price City. In the summer months, it hosts International Days and the Renaissance Fair, and in the fall and winter months, you have events like the Main Street Mash and the Christmas tree Regalia. With so much fun it can be hard to keep up with what is happening in Price.

To help gain a better understanding of what’s coming up, Castle Country Radio was joined by Robby Matkin and Scott Olson from Price City to talk about upcoming events and other city projects.

The first topic of discussion was the city’s cemeteries, namely the headstone decoration policies in place at these hallowed grounds. “So right now, we’ve got Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Halloween, all these dates coming up. We just want to ask everybody to please be mindful of the policy,” explained Matkin,” And if you ever need a reminder of the policy, you can always find it on the Price City website.”

Building off the topic, we moved to Veterans Day, which will be commemorated with a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11 in the Price City Peace Gardens from 9 a.m. to noon.

Then just days later on Friday, Nov. 15, the city will hold a lighting ceremony for the Christmas tree regalia. “The Christmas tree Regalia will also be at the Price City Peace Gardens on Nov. 15,” They’re going to have their lighting ceremony. So that’ll start at 5:30 p.m. ” stated Matkin,” And then for some entertainment, they’re going to have some dancers, some singing. They’re going to do a holiday book reading. There’s also going to be a kid’s raffle. They’ve got a Nintendo Switch, a drone, and a bundle of Lego.”

Moving from the event side of things, Olsen discussed a few public works projects and concerns, starting with the City’s streets,” right now, of course, all the leaves are falling off the trees. We’d like to ask people that if they bag the leaves, we’ll come around and pick them up. Try not to blow them or rake them in the gutter because it causes flooding issues. And if the weather is wet and nasty, the vacuum truck may not be able to clean them up. So we would like them bagged. It’s better for everybody. Also, there are still paving repairs going on as long as the weather cooperates for that.”

Matkin then aimed at the future snowfall the city is expected to experience,” Snow removal is coming. On-street parking is a problem for the snow plows, snow removal equipment, and the crews. So please park off the street if available. If you know a storm is coming, it’s very helpful if you’re not on the street.” Olsen continued,” And after it snows, you’ve got 24 hours to be off before you get a ticket. And we don’t want to get to that part. We would rather have everybody take care of it on their own.”

Our penultimate topic of conversation was the renewal of the ZAP Tax, which is on the ballot for Price residents. “The ZAP Tax allows us funding for all of our recreational needs in the city. That includes the pool, the parks, and other things.” explained Olsen,” All of those things are dependent on that tax. We can’t sit here and beg you to go vote for it. That’s not what we’re here for. We just want to make sure you’re informed.” To learn more about the City’s ZAP Tax, you can visit pricecityutah.com or call the City Offices at (435) 636-3183.

Closing us out, Olsen first stated,” Stay safe with this winter driving coming up. Please pay attention. We’re here to help you if you’ll give us an opportunity to do so.” Matkin added,” We’re going to be out on Main Street putting up decorations. So keep an eye out for us. Just remember to be safe and slow down if you can.”
