The Emery Spartans closed out the cross-country season on Wednesday at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake. The Lady Spartans had been battling the Lady Dinos all season and they finished just behind Carbon to earn a second place finish. The Spartan boys squad ended their season in 10th.

The Lady Spartans were just five points out of first place scoring 96 to take second behind Carbon’s 91. The two teams had gone back and forth throughout the season with Emery earning a first-place finish at the Region 12 Championships, and in the Divisionals Emery finished first in their division while Carbon finished second.

In the girl’s division, the Spartans ended in second place followed by Richfield in third. Union and Canyon View rounded out the top five. Judge Memorial, Ogden, Morgan, Manti, Grantsville, North Sanpete, and Summit Academy made up the rest of the field of 12 teams.

Addy Guymon was the Lady Spartans top finisher in fourth place followed by teammate Gentry Christiansen in fifth.  Addie Hurst (8), Alivia Daley (28), and Hadley Meccariello (60) rounded out the Emery top five. Kallee Lake (62) and Carlie Hurst (75) competed for the Lady Spartans in the field of 94 runners.

Canyon View took the top spot in the boys’ division.  Grantsville was in second and Carbon finished third. Ogden and Morgan made up the rest of the top five. Manti, Union, Richfield, Ben Lomond, Emery, Summit Academy, Judge Memorial, and North Sanpete completed the field of 13 schools.

Dillan Larsen was the top finisher for the Spartans in 21st, and Jacob Erickson ended in 58th. Zander Robinson (63), Landon Braun (70), and Jamison Christiansen (73) rounded out the top five. Hayden Christiansen (74) and Benjamin Farley (77) also closed out their season for the Spartans.
