Over the weekend, the Carbon Swim team got back in the pool, starting with the Cedar Invitational. This was the first meet in a season that will conclude in February at the State Championships at Brigham Young University. The Lady Dinos finished the two-day affair in ninth place out of 14 schools, and the boys landed in 11th out of 13 schools.

Pleasant Grove took the top spot on the girl’s side of the pool followed by Canyon View in second. Hurricane, Davis, and Cedar rounded out the top five.

The Lady Dino team of Rachel Blackburn, Maya Bower, Kanyon Christensen, and Lily Thayn earned a seventh-place finish in the 200 free relay. Blackburn, Christensen, Thayn, and Evie Halk swam to a tenth-place finish in the 200-medley relay.

Individually, Bower also placed third in the 200 free and fourth in the 500 free, and Blackburn earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 free. Halk would also earn two top-ten finishes going eighth in the 500 free and 10th in the 100-yard back, and Thayn earned seventh place in the 200 free and also in the 100-yard breaststroke.

For the boys, it was Pleasant Grove grabbing first place followed by Hurricane in second. Canyon View, Cedar, and Tooele rounded out the top five.

The Carbon team of Mason Engar, Bracken Hansen, Leland Kepsel, and Logan Kranendonk earned a ninth-place finish in the 200-free relay. Engar, Kranendonk, Kepsel, and James Tullis finished ninth in the 200-medley relay also.

Engar also finished sixth in the 100 fly for the Dinos.

Next up for the Dinos will be a trip to Richfield on November 21.
