Christmastime brings a variety of traditions for citizens across the Castle Country Area. Whether it be a specific movie, Christmas tree hunting or cookie making, these traditions are certainly sweet. The only thing sweeter than a tradition is knowing that what you’re celebrating also helps fund a fantastic cause. Such is the case with Active Re-Entry’s See’s Candy fundraiser.

Active Re-Entry Executive Director Teri Yelonek joined Castle Country Radio to discuss the fundraiser and the different programs it benefits.

Yelonek opened by talking about See’s Candy itself,” It’s a wonderful candy, and it’s a tradition for many families. They’ve been buying See’s Candy for many years. But we’ve been lucky to have this fundraising opportunity where some of the proceeds go back to Active Re-Entry as part of a fundraising event.”

Next, Yelonek walked us through some of the programs that this fundraiser will be benefiting,” Our whole mission is to help individuals with disabilities by providing them with the services and support that they need to live independent and productive lives and be able to make choices and advocate for themselves. So a variety of programs are offered, and we provide services to individuals with disabilities of all ages.” She continued,” And what I often find is that until someone needs our services, no matter how much outreach we do, people don’t realize what we do. And probably a good starting point for anybody in our communities, whether it be Carbon or Emery Counties, is we have a durable medical equipment loan bank that we loan out to anyone who’s in need, whether that be a wheelchair, a knee walker, a toilet seat riser, just whatever that may be. Come in or call us, and we’ll help you.”

As for how to purchase items from this delectable delicatessen, Yelonek explained,” But if you want to purchase candy, one of our team members has developed a QR code, and that information is on all of our social media accounts. Or you can call us at 637-4950, and we’ll walk you through it.” You can also follow this link to visit the website.

In closing, Yelonek shared,” This is a really simple fundraiser. You order the candy online. The candy is delivered directly to you. There’s no middleman. We just profit from it in some small ways.”

Active Re-Entry’s See’s Candy Fundraiser will be open until Friday, Nov. 22. To place an order you can either visit Active Re-Entry’s Facebook page or follow this link.
