A busy year only gets busier for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and its Executive Director Barbie Haeck. In addition to the countless ribbon cuttings hosted by the Chamber, the group is preparing for its monthly luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 21 and its Nurses Banquet on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Haeck joined Castle Country Radio to discuss these upcoming events and how to get involved with the CCCC.

Haeck opened our conversation by shouting out the many businesses that have been celebrated with a ribbon cutting over the past month,” just recently we did Karma’s Vintage in East Carbon. We also did a ribbon cutting for Helper City to open their new Public Works building. And then we did a ribbon cutting for FHS, Functional Health Solutions. Also for Driggs Mortgage when they moved to Main Street in Price and Anytime Fitness.”

She also explained how businesses can get a ribbon cutting of their own,” the Chamber offers ribbon cuttings for free to any business in Carbon County. You don’t have to be a Chamber member. Of course, we would welcome you and we’d love to have you. But if you have a new business or if you’ve moved recently, we’d love to do a ribbon cutting for you. Just give us a call at the office.”

Moving on, Haeck talked excitedly about the Chamber’s upcoming luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 21, which will feature Kate Galliet from Fit For Real Life. “ If you haven’t met Kate Galliett, then you’re missing out. So join us at our luncheon next week. The topic of next week’s luncheon is ‘Have your pumpkin pie and eat it too: Simple strategies to avoid holiday weight gain and feel your best’.” The luncheon will be hosted at the Business and Technical Assistance Center in Price located at 375 South Carbon Ave.

Also at this luncheon will be three spotlights, two for local businesses and one for a community-based organization. “We’ll be spotlighting West Coast Show Support, Scattered Dice Games and Arcade, and also Active Reentry. So you’ll hear from all of those businesses.”

The cost for this luncheon is $18 for members and $25 for nonmembers, with seats filling up fast RSVP by calling Haeck at 435-637-2788.

Switching gears, Haeck moved on to the organization’s Nurses Banquet, which will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4. “ It started with COVID and a former chamber president, Ryan Peterson, suggested that we recognize nurses for what they do for us … It will be held at USU Eastern in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center. You can RSVP by calling the office at 435-637-2788. And it’s open to all nurses in Carbon County. So if you’re a nurse, you’re welcome to come and bring a guest. The dinner is free to you.”

In addition to the free dinner, the event will also feature $4,000 in door prizes,” If you’re a nurse, you’ll be given a ticket when you walk in and we will draw tickets for the cash prizes. And the more sponsors we get, the more that prize money will go up.”

Speaking on how to sponsor the event, Haeck explained,” We have two levels of sponsorship, $250 and $500. With the $250 sponsorship, your name will be listed in the event program. With the $500 sponsorship, your business name and logo will be in the program on the sponsor banner, and you’ll be mentioned at the banquet. And like I said, any money that we collect through sponsorships over and above what the meal costs will all go to cash prizes.”

In closing, Haeck walked us through how to become a member of the Chamber of Commerce,” if you’re interested, please give us a call. Or you can go to our website, carboncountychamber.net, and check us out. You can find our email address there, send me an email, and let’s schedule some time to talk.”
