The Emery Spartan swim team was in the pool for the second time in three days, this time on the road in Richfield. This marked the third meet since the start of the season and the Lady Spartans are hoping this is the beginning of great things to come as they earn a first-place finish, the boy’s team finished the day in second.

The Lady Spartans ended the meet with 499 points well ahead of second-place Richfield with 385. Millard (336.5) and Grantsville (129.5) rounded out the rest of the field.

Illyria Mason, Brooklyn O’Neil, Emma Grimm, and Jessie Childs got things started earning a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay with their time of 2:18.02. The 200 free relay team of O’Neil, Mason, Childs, and Annie Johansen finished in second, and it was another second-place finish in the 400 free behind the team of Johansen, Grimm, Kate Bell, and Hadley Meccariello.

Childs and O’Neil each led the way for the Lady Spartans with a pair of first-place finishes. O’Neil turned in a time of 2:48.11 in the 200-individual medley, and 1:23.49 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Childs claimed her top spots in the 50 free with a time of 29.21 and the 100 free with a time of 1:06.58.

Johansen earned a second-place finish in the 200 IM and a fourth in the 100-yard backstroke. Sydni Lake claimed a second-place finish in the 500 free and third in the 200 free. Grimm claimed a pair of third-place finishes in both the 50-free and the 100-yard fly, and Mason swam her way to third-place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.

Meccariello earned a third-place finish in the 100 free and a sixth in the 50 free,  Maggie Jeffs collected a fourth place in the 100 free and came in fifth in the 200 free. Lily White ended the meet with fourth place in the 200-free and seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke. Morgan Mills finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke and fifth in the 100-free. Both Bell and Avery Beagley earned two fifth-place and two eighth-place finishes with Beagley taking fifth in the 50 free and Bell taking eighth, Bell earned a fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and Beagley taking eighth in the 100 free. Abbie Moulton took sixth place in the 200 free and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke, and Kaila Martineau finished eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke, Laycee Winn would finish third.

Host team Richfield took the top spot in the boy’s side of the pool scoring 492, Emery finished in second with a score of 464. Millard (300) and Grantsville (212) comprised the remainder of the field.

The Spartans came up big in relays with a pair of first-place finishes and a second. With a time of 1:50.67, the team of Thomas Black, Parker Jensen, Reve Mason, and Adam Olsen claimed first in the 200 medley and then Jensen along with Black, Olsen, and Jacob Morris took first in the 200 free turning in a time of 1:42.25. In the 400 relay Mason and Morris were joined by teammates Jaxon Durrant and Jamison Christiansen for second.

Individually, Olsen took first in the 200 free with his time of 2:04.43 and followed that up with a second place in the 100 free. Black earned first by being the fastest in the 50 free with a time of 25.35 and then a third in the 100-yard backstroke. Jensen claimed the top spot in the 200 individual medley with his time of 2:20.61 and a third in the 100-free. Mason took the top finish in the 100-yard fly with his time of 1:05.02, and also a fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Morris claimed second place in the 100-yard breaststroke, and finished the 50 free in sixth, Christiansen took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and sixth in the 100 free. Durrant ended the 500-free in fourth and then took eight in the 50-free.

Devon Farley ended his day with a pair of top-tens, fifth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke. Kamron Hansen went fifth in the 500 and ninth in the 50 free, and Cody Howard earned a fifth in the breaststroke and tenth in the 100 free. Haylen Wilis took eighth in the 100 backstroke and ninth in the 200 free. Corbin Madsen finished sixth in the backstroke, Tyson Gardner took eighth in the 500, and Isaak Potter tenth in the 200 free.

The Spartans don’t get back to the pool until November 26 when they welcome in Carbon and Grand.
