
The Lady Panthers basketball team kicked off their 2024-2025 campaign in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday against the Wasatch Academy Tigers. Pinnacle was in control from the tip-off and cruised to a 42-13 win to start the season at 1-0.
Pinnacle ended last year in the second round of the State Championships falling to the No. 1 overall seed Monument Valley which put them in the consolation round where they lost to Wayne. The Lady Panthers ended with a 10-15 overall record going 0-6 in region play and held the No. 16 spot in the final RPI.
On Tuesday night the Panthers jumped out to take an 11-2 lead in the first quarter, carrying their momentum into the second and increasing their lead over the Tigers to 20-7 at halftime headed into the locker room.
Pinnacle came out in the second half looking to put Wasatch Academy away scoring 14 in the third and allowing the Tigers only four points in the quarter. Moving into the final quarter the Lady Panthers held their lead adding eight more and closing out the contest to take the 42-13 win.
Jazmyne Mullis and Heather Kerr each scored 14 points but Mullis would add 14 rebounds and seven steals for the Panthers. Kerr would be responsible for six steals on the stat line. Kaydence Romero would put up 10 points and claim nine steals and Neveah Love pulled down six boards in the win.
The Lady Panthers will get back to it on Wednesday when they will travel, along with the boy’s team to take on Freedom Preparatory Eagles.
