Local business owners and employees from across the Carbon Corridor gathered at the Business Technical Assistance Center for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon. As a part of this luncheon, the CCCC spotlighted businesses Scattered Dice and West Coast Show Support, as well as providing a community spotlight to Active Re-Entry.

Starting with Scattered Dice, owner and operator Micheal Clark was honored by the chamber. He took this time to speak on why local game stores like scattered dice are important,” they’re not just retail shops. They’re a community hub, they’re social gathering places. It provides opportunities for people to have face-to-face interaction, which is becoming rare in this new digital era.”

In addition to providing a gaming space for those who frequent the shop, Scattered Dice is heavily involved in the community,” We participate heavily in Donating to our local Scout groups as well as the Masonic Lodge,” stated Clark,” we’re proud to be a part of this community.”

Scattered Dice sells products from all across the gaming space, ranging from Magic the Gathering, Warhammer and Disney’s Lorcana to more traditional board games. “If anyone needs help or needs advice on possible gift-giving ideas, we carry unique products that you won’t find at Walmart or Target. It’s a lot more unique and it’s a lot more personal,” explained Clark, who jokingly added,” As the chief nerd officer I’m happy to help out with that.”

Scattered Dice is located at 60 North 100 West in Price.

Next to take time in the spotlight was Kenny Driggs and his company West Coast Show Support. West Coast Show Support is an entertainment company that provides creative and technical support for a wide variety of events. “We produce live entertainment with an emphasis on lighting and design,” explained Driggs,” We also do video work, and a lot of concert touring design.”

While still working heavily in California, the business has begun to put a heavy emphasis on a partnership with the Rio Theater in Helper, as well as providing lighting and production services for Schools and athletic teams across the Carbon Corridor.

The final spotlight was presented to Terri Yelonek, executive director of Active Re-Entry. “We serve individuals with disabilities from birth to death. And our goal is to help individuals to be able to succeed and live fulfilling lives in their home communities.”

Serving seven counties across the state, the wide range of services offered by Active Re-Entry benefits so many,” we have youth groups, we have adult groups, we have young adult groups and we’re teaching life lessons, social skills, whatever it may be.” Yelenok also explained services such as Perkies Travels, which transports cancer patients up north for chemotherapy and the Durable Medical Loan Bank, which provides people in need with medical equipment such as canes, walkers and wheelchairs.

With Active Re-Entry being a nonprofit organization, a lot of its funding comes from community donations. Currently, they are hosting a fundraiser with See’s Candy, which will allow you to give money to a great organization while also getting something sweet for the holidays. To place an order, you can visit their fundraiser page here.

Castle Country Radio would like to congratulate these organizations as well as thank them for the work they put in to help our community thrive.
