
With their dominant win over Wasatch Academy on Tuesday 42-13, the Lady Panthers took their show on the road again on Wednesday and Thursday coming away with a pair of wins. Wednesday they handed Freedom Prep a 36-13 loss on Thursday it was Merit Preparatory Academy and they collected their third win of the season 36-29.
The contest with Freedom Prep couldn’t have started any better for Pinnacle. The Lady Panthers shut down the Eagles, holding them to 0 points and collecting ten. They carried that energy into the second quarter when Pinnacle gave up two points but were able to add 12 more to take a 22-2 lead at halftime.
In the third, Pinnacle and American Prep played even with each team managing nine points, but the Pinnacle lead was safe as they headed into the final eight minutes. In the fourth, the pace slowed as the Lady Panthers scored just five points and held the Eagles to two points as Pinnacle earned the 36-13 win.
Heather Kerr dropped 23 points and pulled down five rebounds. Kaydence Romero added six with four boards and ten steals, and Jazmyne Mullis scored four pulling down 12 rebounds. Kaibri Moynier collected 10 steals and eight rebounds in the win.
On Thursday the Lady Panthers were on the road again this time to take on the Merit Prep Academy Knights.
Both teams got off to a slow start, combining for just 11 points in the first quarter, and Pinnacle held an 8-3 lead. In the second quarter, Merit Prep came out firing and outscored the Lady Panthers 14-10. However, Pinnacle had built up a big enough lead and would go into the locker rooms at the half, up by one, 18-17.
The Knights kept it close in the third, outscoring the Panthers 10-9, but in the fourth quarter, Pinnacle increased its defensive intensity, allowing just two points and putting nine of its own on the board to earn the 36-29 win.
This time, Romero led the Lady Panthers with 18 points; Kerr added 15. Mullis pulled down 11 boards, adding three steals and a pair of assists, and Moynier had 11 rebounds, three steals, and two points in the Pinnacle win.
Pinnacle will put their three-game winning streak on the line Monday when they take on American Preparatory West Valley on the road.
