It’s with heavy and sad hearts to announce that our brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather, Wesley John Coombs, passed away Wednesday, November 20, due to a long battle with COPD and congestive heart failure. Hoss passed away in his home in Carbonville, Utah accompanied by his family.

Hoss was born January 4, 1965 to Wesley Virgil and Joan Marie Housekeeper Coombs in Salt Lake City, Utah

Our family moved from the Salt Lake Valley to Wellington, Utah in 1970. Wesley attended Carbon High School and College of Eastern Utah to obtain his GED and received his water treatment operator certificate, which helped him to land a job with Wellington Water Waste Management.

Hoss had a carefree, happy soul and loved to travel. Whenever he had a notion, he would stick out his thumb to see where the road would take him. He would always return with many stories to tell, which he would, without leaving out one little detail. Needless to say, Hoss never had a lack of stories to share. We used to tease him and tell him he needed a hat that said, “Help! I’m talking and I can’t shut up.” Hoss was a jack of all trades. If you needed something done or fixed, he could and would, with a smile on his face.

During his younger years, he built fences for John Cochran Fencing. He enjoyed working for John but in no time the oil rigs grabbed his attention. But what got his attention the most was when he married his lovely bride, Anna DiCaro. She had two beautiful children which he automatically accepted them in his heart as his own. Hoss and Anna married in September of 1989 and they moved to Arizona to begin their life. While in AZ he worked as a swimming pool resurfacer.

Through their marriage Hoss helped Anna remember what real love felt like and showed her what being a father truly meant. Although Hoss and Anna decided to part ways a few years later, they remained great friends until the end. Hoss moved back to Wellington to live with his father and mother helping them until they both passed away.

During this time Hoss began working for his uncle Rick Housekeeper at Rick’s Mine Service until he was no longer able to work.

Hoss loved hanging out with friends and family, working on cars, camping, fishing, or just having a cold beer and a good old chat. He was always ready for his next adventure. So, fly high Hoss and we pray this is your best adventure yet!

Hoss is survived by his sister, Mickie (William) Mitchell of Price; brother, Jeff (Tammy) Coombs of Elmo; ex-wife, Anna Ferguson; stepdaughter, Rosalie (Cory) Ferguson; stepson, Mitch (Melissa) Murphy; three grandsons and five granddaughters, all of Minnesota; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Joan Coombs; sister, Leslie Lynn Owen; and brother-in-law, Warren Owen, all of Wellington City; grandparents, Virginia (Manual) Garcia, of Salt Lake City, and John and Marie Housekeeper of Wellington.

Special thanks to his sister, Mickie Mitchell. Nieces, Ka’auna Harrison, JJ Hadden, and Marley Coombs. And a very special thanks to Ka’auna Harrison (niece) for relentlessly fighting to keep him alive in the night of his passing.
