
Five players from Carbon and Emery counties have earned All-State honors for their work on the volleyball court. Kate Nielson, Jabry Sharp, and Kali Jensen of Emery were joined by Jacie Jensen of Carbon and Heather Kerr of Pinnacle. The Deseret News all-state teams are based on the coach’s votes from a list of nominated players from each team.
The Emery Lady Spartans finished the season 17-13 overall claiming the No. 5 spot in the final RPI of the season earning a first-round bye. Emery earned a second-round win over Providence Hall but fell to Morgan in the quarterfinals. The season would come to an end with a loss to South Sevier.
Senior Nielson earned second-team honors ending the season collecting 74 kills, this is the second straight award for her as last year she received an Honorable Mention. Sharp was on the third team list and earned 83 digs to go along with her 10 service aces. Senior Kali Jensen’s 176 assists and 17 blocks landed her an Honorable Mention, this is Jensen’s second straight Honorable Mention.
The Lady Dinos ended the season 8-21 overall earning the No. 14 spot and a first-round bye in the State Championships. They lost their second-round match-up with Union and then the season ended with a loss to Ogden in the consolation round.
Jaci Jensen, a senior for the Lady Dinos, got an Honorable Mention collecting 364 assists and 48 aces.
The Lady Panthers went 5-15 overall earning the No. 16 spot they faced Dugway in the opening round, moving on to face the No. 1 overall seed Valley, falling in straight sets. The season closed out with a loss to Tabiona in the consolation round.
Pinnacle’s Heather Kerr earned an Honorable Mention in the 1A ranks for the Panthers. Kerr had quite a resume with 97 digs, 74 kills, 42 blocks, and 30 aces during her senior campaign.
