
Jackie Maria Sena Seely, born November 1, 1939, in Center, Colorado, died peacefully at the Good Life Living Center in Price, Utah, on November 27, 2024 at the age of 85. She was married to Erin Seely for 46 years and lived in Salt Lake City and, after retirement, returned to Helper, UT. Erin preceded Jackie in death on October 28, 2024, just one month ago.
Until her retirement, Jackie was a histologist at St. Mark’s and Holy Cross Hospitals in Salt Lake City, where she specialized in cancer detection. Jackie was a kind and generous woman who was outgoing, caring, and loved people and animals. Jackie loved beauty. She was creative and open, accepting all who crossed her path.
Survivors include Jackie’s sisters, Carmen Julia Knott (Ed) of Grand Junction, CO, and Sister Maria Sena, a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist of Meriden, CT; brother, H. John (Margaret) of Pueblo, CO; nieces and nephews, Deborah Sena Singh and Rebecca Sena Valentine, Jon E. Knott, Jr.; along with several great nieces and nephews; and stepson, Jaimie Seely of Layton, UT.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Lucy Sena; brother, Tony; and nephew, Larry Knott.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Good Life Living Center for providing a “home” with their loving care of Jackie, Erin, and their little dog, Minnie. Special gratitude to Jackie and Erin’s neighbors, Julie, Tod and Steven for their attentiveness and help, and to Mitchell Funeral Home for their many decades of service to the Sena family.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, 2:00 p.m., St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Helper where the family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. with a Rosary service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Committal service will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery, Helper, Utah.
