Looking for a gift for the aspiring chef in your life? Well, look no further than the Carbon School District Pan sale which will be held Dec. 10, 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Child Nutrition Specialist Tonya Jones stopped by the KOAL newsroom to talk about what people should expect from the sale.
“The pan sale is something that we hold every year and we bring in any kind of kitchen item to sell,” explained Jones,” So we bring in pans, we bring in parchment paper, any utensils that are used in the kitchen and then we sell them and then we’re able to help us. It helps our program in several different ways.”
Jones then provided a more in-depth look into some of the wares being sold as a part of the fundraiser,” One of the things that sells the very best is the pans. They’re like the sheet pans you bake cookies on, but they also come with lids and we have two different sizes of that and they are the best. There are also lots of cooking racks and we brought in some milk frothers. Those were a big hit from last year and we’re bringing it in again this year. It’s just different fun things that we have.”
In addition to the great deals on cookware, other incentives to attend the sale include refreshments and door prizes. “What we do is we usually take some of the items that we sell in the pan sale and then we just create them into a door prize. So like last year we did pizza pan with the pizza cutter and like the sauce, we put all of it together in one door prize,” said Jones,” And then we also always do refreshments. So we’ll make muffins or some kind of cookies or, and then we always have hot chocolate and coffee there.”
In addition to walking away with high-quality products, the funds raised from the sale go back to benefit the school district directly,” It helps us with any training that we do, or if there’s something that we need to get for some of my staff, that also goes to help pay for that. So it’s a great fundraiser that helps our department a lot, especially because we have to have so many hours of training each year. And so this is a great way that we can bring in money for those training sessions that will benefit our program.”
In closing, Jones shared,” Just come and enjoy. We’re so excited about it. It’s going to be fun.”
The Carbon School District Pan Sale will be held on Dec. 10, 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the CSD Office located at 251 West 400 North in Price.
