Coming off their season-opening win over Duchesne, the Carbon boys’ wrestling squad was back at work on the road in Delta on Wednesday night. Delta is one of the premier programs in the state, and the Dinos went toe-to-toe with the Rabbits, but in the end, the Dinos fell 45-28.
Coach Trent Greenhalgh was a recent guest on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports and discussed the electric environment in Delta.
“In Delta, it (the crowd) was deafening, and it was so much fun, and I think our boys loved going into that hostile environment and that’s really where these freshmen showed their poise, especially these sophomores and some of these senior showed their leadership saying we can wrestle with any team out there.”
In the first match, Jantz Greenhalgh earned a win by major decision in the 106-pound class over Delta’s Treaton Manis. In the 113-pound class, Ashdyn Densley won his match by pin over Trystyn Ashby, and Gage Leffler won by decision over Manuel Lopez at 120-pounds.
Riker O’Hearon won his match at 144 pounds over Trey Bradshaw. In the 190-pound class, Andrew Kifer claimed a win by pin over Robert Harrison, and JJ Ruden took the win in the 215-pound class over Anthony Suarez by pin.
Carbon will be on the road this weekend for the Panguitch Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
