ebb-015-2

On Saturday the Emery Spartan boy’s basketball team welcomed the Panguitch Bobcats to the Spartan Center.  The Bobcats entered the contest with a perfect 4-0 and after overcoming a slow start used a big fourth quarter to hand the Spartans their fourth loss of the season 55-42.

The Spartans would start the contest on a 7-0 run and would follow that through outscoring the Bobcats 17-8 in the quarter. In quarter number two, the Spartans would increase their lead to 20-10 but the Bobcats would go on a 11-6 run to cut the Emery lead to 26-21 as the two teams headed to the locker room at halftime.

Coming out in the third with the Spartans up by five, Panguitch would start to fight their way back finding their stroke from behind the arc and by working the ball in down under the basket, but with 2:50 left in the third quarter Emery would still hold a seven-point lead at 38-31. The Bobcats would cut that to 38-37 as the two teams headed to the final quarter.

Panguitch came out on a mission against the Spartans in the fourth as they used their defense to take over the game, with 6:50 left in the quarter Emery would score their final basket but the Bobcats would not take a lead until there was just under four minutes left and then closed out the quarter earning their fifth straight win to start the season, 55-42.

Panguitch’s Daxton Miller would lead all scorers with 20 in the contest.
