The Lady Panthers have been on the road for their last three contests since last Friday. Games at Water Canyon and Escalante ended in losses for Pinnacle, but on Monday night they took on Utah Military Academy- Camp Williams, earning a 47-11 win, going 1-2 in their last three games and moving to 5-3 overall this season.
They rolled into Hilldale on Friday night to face the Water Canyon Wildcats.
The Wildcats jumped out in the first quarter taking a 16-4 advantage over Pinnacle. The Panthers took a step back in the second as the Water Canyon defense stopped them at almost every opportunity holding them to just two points in the quarter as the Wildcats would increase their lead headed to the locker room at halftime up 23-6.
In the second half, Pinnacle would find some life as they outscored the Wildcats 12-10, but the Panthers would still go into the fourth quarter down 33-18. Water Canyon seized the chance in the final eight minutes to close out the Panthers as they held them to 4 points in the quarter and grabbed the 41-29 win.
Jostyn McLean scored 12 for Pinnacle, with Heather Kerr adding eight and Kaydence Romero had two in the loss.
Saturday night it was on to Escalante to face the Moquis.
The Lady Panthers had a good first half as they would put up six in the first quarter and 10 in the second and would hold a three-point lead at halftime 16-13.
The second half was Pinnacle’s undoing, when in the third quarter the Moquis would take control pouring in 16 while defensively they shut down the Panthers allowing just four points to take a 29-20 lead. In the fourth, Esacalante and Pinnacle would battle for the win as the Moquis scored 12, holding Pinnacle to nine and handing them their third straight loss 41-29.
McLean poured in 13 while Kerr had 7 and Jazmyne Mullis scored 4.
Monday night the Panthers found themselves on the road again this time to face the Utah Military Academy- Camp Williams Mauraders.
Coming off a loss on Saturday night, Sunday must have given the Lady Panthers a chance to regroup as they would come out in the first quarter and not allow a single point to the Mauraders scoring 17 points. The second quarter was definitely at a slower pace with the Mauraders putting up just three points and Pinnacle coming up with nine of their own to carry a 26-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The third quarter was about as even as things could get but still, at this point it was a blow-out with the Lady Panthers holding the 31-9 advantage as they would go to the fourth. Pinnacle would go on another run in the final eight minutes closing out the Mauraders and the contest by the score of 47-11.
McLean came up big for the Panthers with 21 in the game. Kerr added 11 and Kaibri Moynier added five in the win.
One more road game for Pinnacle as they will travel to face Altamont on Friday evening.
