
An offensive struggle in the middle quarters plagued the Carbon Lady Dinos in a 42-31 loss to the Richfield Wildcats in a Region 12 tilt Tuesday night at home.
Trailing 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, Carbon scored just nine points between the second and third quarters. The offense found its footing in the fourth but could not overcome the double-digit deficit.
Jacie Jensen continued her steady play for Carbon, scoring 14 of the team’s 31 points. Maddie Ferguson chipped in with six points and Bailey Johnson finished with five. As a team Carbon was held to just 11 field goals and two makes from beyond the arc.
Abbee Albrecht led the Wildcats with a game-high 15 points. Jordyn Bagley was lethal from the perimeter, scoring nine of her 11 points from deep. Katie Anderson also finished with nine, as Richfield remained unbeaten in league play.
Tuesday’s loss sends Carbon to 2-6 overall on the season and 0-2 in Region 12 action. Carbon joins Manti and Delta as the other teams still fighting for a win in the highly competitive division.
The week is just beginning for Carbon as the girls will play three more games before heading into the Christmas break. Next will be another home division game against the Manti Templars on Thursday. The Lady Dinos will then travel to the 2A/3A Preview on Friday and Saturday to square off with South Sevier and Kanab.
