Shirley Louise Vogel, age 81, passed away peacefully at Parkdale Health and Rehab on January 2, 2025.
Shirley was born in Virginia and lived in Okinawa in the early 1950’s where her dad was stationed in the US Army. She later settled in La Porte, Texas where she worked for many years in the cafeteria at La Porte Jr. High.
Shirley never met a stranger. Her stories made everyone she met smile. Whether it was remembering time spent with her grandparents in Seattle or letting you know her dad worked for NASA, where one time an astronaut came for dinner. She entertained everyone she met with her words, her smile and her infectious enthusiasm for life.
She loved reading her bible and always had a prayer for those she loved and anyone she knew that was in need. She also loved country music, especially Conway Twitty. She will be missed by her family, her friends and all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lorraine Vogel; her brothers, Leonard Robert Vogel, Terry Kenneth Vogel, and Raymond Albert Vogel; and her sister, Linda Gayle Vogel.
She is survived by her nieces, Linda (Bill) Tice, Christina (Vince) Halbert, and Mechelle Storeide; her great nieces, Amber (Nick) Clark and Jennifer (Dan) Connelly; great-nephews, Morgan Storeide and Remy Storeide; and great-great-nephew, Cai Connelly.
The family would like to thank Parkdale Health and Rehab for all their compassion, care and kindness shown to Shirley in her final months. We are forever grateful.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends and family are welcome to share memories of Shirley online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
