Dazi Thatcher of the Lady Spartan wrestling team earned a first-place finish at the Girl’s Tournament of Champions over the weekend in  Vernal at Uintah High School. Out of 19 wrestlers in her weight class Thatcher came out on top with a 4-0 record.

Thatcher received an opening-round bye but in the second round, she would come up against Ingrid Tessem of host Uintah earning a victory by pin. Next up for Thatcher was a quarterfinal matchup with Camila Diaz of Bonneville, and another pin.

In the match to get to the final, she faced Ruth LeBlanc from Meeker and would go on to pin her in 2:39.

In the first place math she faced Khatira Keith of San Juan. Keith entered the math with a perfect 4-0 mark, and when the two locked up it was Thatcher who would walk away the victor in 57 seconds.
