
On Wednesday, the Carbon swim team traveled to Vernal to take on the Uintah Utes. In one of the final meets of the season, the Dinos fell short in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions, as the host team, Uintah, took the top spots in both.
Carbon has made its way through the long season and only has the Carbon “Last Chance”Invitational coming up this weekend before the Region 12 Championships on January 24 in Cedar City.
Uintah took first on in the boy’s division scoring 126 compared to the Dinos 39.
The boy’s teams struggled in the relays taking third place in all three. The team of James Tullis, Ky Earl, Logan Kranendonk, and Bracken Hanson finished third in both the 200 free and medley relays. Vincent Rondinelli, Carlos Mendoza, Jared Bryson, and Traxton Jewkes took third in the 400 free.
Hanson earned the only first-place finish for the Dino boys in the 500 free turning in a time of 5:42.3, he went on to take second in the 200 free. Tullis competed in the backstroke where he took second-place and a third-place finish in the 50 free. Kranendonk earned a third-place finish in the 100 fly and a fourth-place spot in the 50 free. Bryson earned a third-place finish in the 100-free.
Earl also competed in the breaststroke taking fourth, and the 50 free taking fifth, and Dallin Humes claimed a fourth-place finish in the 200 free and a fifth in the 50 free.
The Uintah girl’s team claimed the top spot in the girl’s division with 87 points with the Lady Dinos earning 76.
The Lady Dinos took first place in the 400 medley relay, and the team of Kanyon Christensen, Maya Bower, Evie Halk, and Lily Thayn finished in a time of 4:25.79. Halk, Christensen, Thayn, and Rachel Blackburn, finished second in the 200 medley, and Blackburn, Bower, Lisa King, and Ericka Whitmore claimed second in the 200 free as well.
Lisa King and Maya Bower each earned a pair of first-place finishes for the Lady Dinos. King took first in the 50 free with a time of 27.72 and again in the 100 free finishing the race in a time of 1:02.95. Bower took first in the 200 free with her time of 2:20.50 and first place in the 500 free turning in a time of 6:20.38.
Christensen claimed a first-place finish in the backstroke with a time of 1:16.15 and a second-place finish in the 200 free. Halk finished second in the 100 free and a third-place finish in the breaststroke.
Blackburn had two top-five finishes in her events. In the 100 free she would finish third and then fifth in the 50 free. Aylen Lyman earned a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50 free and the breaststroke, and Miley Hansen took fourth in the backstroke.
The Carbon Dinos get back in the water on Saturday for the Last Chance invite at the pool in Price.
