Looking to warm the community up following the doldrums of winter, Price City and Council Member Layne Miller have begun preparations for the 2025 Culture Connection season. As a part of this, Price City is conducting a survey to gather what attendees would like to see most from Culture Connection concerts. Miller joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the survey and look ahead to the summer.
In a press release shared by Price City, Miller is quoted as saying,” We’re incredibly proud of what Culture Connection has become, but we know there’s always room to grow. This survey is an opportunity for the community to share their ideas, favorite moments, and suggestions for how we can keep improving.”
The survey broaches several topics pertinent to the concert series, with questions including what genre people would like to hear more of,” our policy is you may not love the music for the day, but eventually, sometime during the summer, you will love several different concerts. We have an idea of what people like. You know, rock is popular, country is popular, country rock is big. But what other things would the public like to hear? What other types of music?”
The experimentation in genres was highlighted in 2024 by the massive crowd that attended the show of Latin fusion band SENXAO during the Price City International Days’ rendition of the event. “As far as a crowd reaction, that was as good as I have seen in years.”
Another major topic covered by the survey is the creation of a specific stage for Culture Connection and other concert events in Washington Park. Miller explained the reasoning behind this idea,” the thing about having a permanent stage in the park is it’ll give us a nice place where everything is easy for us to set up, more permanent. But I think that the big thing is it gives us a signal that Price City is serious about music. We’re serious about being in Washington Park.”
While still in the early planning stages, the survey gives the general public a chance to voice their opinion on the matter.
With Culture Connection starting up again in June, Miller peeled back the curtain to provide some insight as to what the planning process is looking like,” We’re committed to doing our research. We want to hear the public’s input, and that’s what this is all about. But we had a meeting, and we’re going to coordinate with the fairgrounds. Our plan is to have music during the fireworks on the 4th of July again.” Miller added,” We want to coordinate with the Carbon County Fair. We had a battle of the bands last year that was really popular. So we’re in it, and we want to coordinate with everybody. There’s a group of us that would love to make Carbon County the music center of Utah.”
For citizens wishing to fill out the survey, you will have until Feb. 1 to do so. “We want to hear from everyone, whether you’ve been to every concert or are just passionate about keeping live music alive in Price,” spoke Miller
Price City’s Culture Connection concerts will begin in June on Thursday, June 12. For more information and to see upcoming events, you can visit Price City’s Facebook page or website.
