On Thursday the Spartan swim team invited teams from Union and Payson to the Emery Aquatic Center. Union was ready for all competitors as they claimed first place in both divisions.

On the boy’s side of the pool, Union took the top spot with 99 points, Emery claimed second with 94 and Payson scored 93.

The Emery boys team of Thomas Black, Parker Jensen, Trek Petersen, and Adam Olsen swam to two first-place finishes. In the 200 medley, they turned in a time of 1:48.29, and in the 200 free a time of 1:36.27 was enough for first. The 400 relay team of Jamison Christiansen, Reve Mason, Preston Hulse, and Jacob Morris earned a third-place finish.

Jensen had a pair of top finishes in the breaststroke he had a time of 1:04.03, and then in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.13. Black earned a first-place finish in the backstroke with his time of 1:01.61, and he finished third in the 100 free. Olsen would earn a first-place finish in the 50 free turning in a time of 24.04, and took second in the 100 free.

Mason took second in the 100 fly, Peterson finished third in the 200 IM, and fourth in the backstroke. Morris had a pair of fifth-place finishes in the breaststroke and the 200 free, and Clay Howard finished fifth in the 500 free.

Union also captured first place in the girl’s division with 123 points, Payson finished in second with 111 and Emery collected 52 points.

In the 200 medley relay Illyria Mason, Brooklyn O’Neil, Jessie Childs, and Emma Grimm took second, and in the 200 free O’Neil, Grimm, Mason, and Hadley Meccariello finished third. The team of Sydni Lake, Ashley Mesler, Kate Bell, and Maggie Jeffs took a fourth-place finish in the 400 free.

Mason swam her way to a first-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:42.04, she also took third in the 100 free. O’Neil took first place in the breaststroke turning in a time of 1:20.77, and second place in the 200 IM, and Childs took third in the 50 free.

The Spartans will be back in the pool on Saturday when they will participate in the Carbon Last Chance Invitational.
