
In the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 19, while sitting stationary on SR-6, a police vehicle from the Helper City Police Department was struck from behind by an oncoming vehicle, resulting in an officer hospitalization and a road closure.
“While one of our officers were parked stationary on SR-6, another vehicle collided into the rear of our officer’s vehicle while the officer was seated in the driver’s seat,” reads a release from the Department. “Our officer was transported to the hospital in stable condition.”
The crash closed all lanes along the stretch of highway, resulting in traffic being rerouted through Helper’s Main Street.
The release closes,” The crash investigation is being handled by the Utah Highway Patrol. The condition of the officer may be released at a later time.”
At the time of writing, traffic has reopened on SR-6. The identity of the officer is currently unknown.
