
The Emery Spartans Swim team took part in the final regular season son meet of the season the Carbon Last Chance Invite. Richfield came out on top of both divisions while both of the Spartan squads landed in fourth.
The Richfield boys finished with 449 points with Carbon right behind with 329.5. Gunnison (260), Emery (240), Grand (213.5), and Delta (118) rounded out the rest of the field.
The Spartan boys didn’t compete in any relays, but two swimmers earned first-place finishes. Parker Jensen went first in the 50 free with a time of 23.44 he also took fourth in the 500 free. Trek Petersen earned a first-place finish in the breaststroke with a time of 1:08.25
Thomas Black earned a second-place finish in the 50 free and then took fourth in the breaststroke. Jamison Christiansen earned a pair of third-place finishes in both the 50 free and the backstroke. Reve Mason grabbed a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 200 free and the 100 free, Jacob Morris took fifth in the breaststroke, and Brekker Bunnell took fifth in the backstroke.
Cody Howard, Preston Hulse, and Haylen Willis each finished in ninth place in the 200 free, 50 free, and 100 fly respectively. Howard would also finish tenth in the breaststroke and Hulse finished tenth in the 100 fly.
Richfield would also take the top spot on the girls’ side of the pool with 377 points, Grand was in second with 348. Carbon (324), Emery (224.5), Gunnison (165.5), and Delta (99) comprised the remainder of the field.
The Lady Spartans would compete in just one relay, the 200 medley finishing in third behind the team of Illyria Mason, Brooklyn O’Neil, Jessie Childs, and Emma Grimm.
Mason took the top spot in both her individual events turning in a time of 27.36 in the 50 free and 1:02.92 in the 100 free. Morgan Mills finished second in the breaststroke.
Grimm claimed two fourth-place finishes in the 200 free and backstroke, Childs finished fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free, and O’Neil took fourth in the 500 free and fifth in the 50 free.
Sydni Lake took a seventh-place finish in the backstroke and tenth in the 100 free, Lily White took eighth in the breaststroke, and Abbie Moulton ended the 200 IM in ninth place.
This wraps up the regular season for the Spartans. The postseason starts on Friday in Cedar City with the Region 12 Championships.
