Karen Jane Nelson Brown, age 86, passed away with family by her side on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Pinnacle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Price, Utah.

Karen was born on August 29, 1938 to Charles Maxfield Nelson and Nola Marie Anderton. She was raised on a dairy farm in Cedarview, Utah and as the middle child of nine she learned at a young age hard work and the value of family.

In 1954, she married her husband of 22 years, Arthur Wayne Brown, later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1965, they purchased a farm in Spring Glen, Utah where they raised their seven children. Mom was always busy with her children and the farm.

Mom was a real seamstress, she sewed her families clothes, made quilts, crocheted, and knitted. She also spent many hours taking care of the garden and canning the family’s food. When she wasn’t busy with kids and the farm she was taking care of her beautiful flower gardens.

Mom was proficient with the clarinet and the steel guitar. She even played in a band for several years. She loved square dancing and playing cards. She eventually went back to school and received her real estate license and her nursing degree. Mom and her daughter, LuAnna owned their own business; Hometown Trophies, but, the most important thing to mom was her family.

Family events and holiday traditions were a regular event. She loved spending as much time as possible with her family and would always be there if you needed her. Mom has 27 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. They truly were the joy of her life.

Survived by her children, Lynette (Greg Marsing), Susan (Terry Wright), LuAnna Erickson, Lesly (Mark Robertson), Darrin Brown (Anna), and Denise (Ron Young); and siblings, Ina (AD Shaw), Larry Nelson, and Penny Shaw.

Preceded in death by her son, Shane Brown; daughter-in-law, Jackie Brown; son-in-law, Terry Erickson; and grandson, Arthur John Ori.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Shane Gagon and to the staff at Pinnacle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Price for the loving way they cared for our mother.
