On Monday, the Lady Panthers made the long trip to Logan to face the Grizzlies. Both teams have had struggles this season, and the problems for Pinnacle remained as the Grizzlies handed the Lady Panthers their ninth loss of the year, 34-29.
Pinnacle started out this season with four straight wins, but with the loss to Logan, they have lost seven in a row and only have four contests left.
Pinnacle came out in the first quarter looking to take an early lead, and they did just that, earning a 7-5 lead at the end of the first. It would be the second quarter when the Grizzlies took control, scoring 15 in the period to take a five-point lead, 20-15, into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, neither team was looking to put any distance from the other. The Lady Panthers were able however to outscore Logan 8-7, but would still trail the Grizzlies 27-23 headed to the fourth. In the final eight minutes, each team was once again almost going through the motions. Logan had built just a four-point lead but it would hold and Pinnacle moved to 9-10 overall with a 34-29 loss.
Jostyn McLean scored 18 and Heather Kerr had 11 in the loss for the Panthers.
Pinnacle holds the No.16 spot in the latest RPI rankings from the Utah High School Activities Association.
There are four games left in the regular season before the postseason starts on February 22.
The Lady Panthers will be home on Thursday when they welcome the Monument Valley Cougars. The Cougars sit at 7-8 overall and 1-1 in Region 19 play, they hold the No. 10 spot in the latest RPI.
This is the first time the two teams have met up this season, and game time is set for 5:30 p.m..
