On Tuesday evening it was all hands on deck at Carbon High as both the boys and girls teams for the Dinos and the Spartans competed in the region meet. After 14 matches for the boys and four matches for the girls, Carbon took the win for the boys 49-16 and the girls 18-6.
The wrestling season is winding down and both schools are getting ready for the Divisional Round of the playoffs which are coming up at the end of the month at Juab.
On the boy’s side, Carbon would collect wins from Jantz Greenhalgh at 106 pounds, JJ Munoz at 113 pounds, and Gage Lefler at 120.
Emery would counter with wins at 126 pounds from Ryan Collard, 132 pounds with Dayton Farley, and Boden Christman at 165.
Riker O’Hearon, who has been putting together a great year for Carbon won his match at 138 pounds. Jack Burdick took the win by technical fall at 144 pounds. Trace Crespin took the victory at 150 pounds over Joey Bouldin, and Gavin Fausett took the win by decision over Hazen Meccariello. James Newman collected a win by decision at 157, Daxtyn Mower won at 215 by forfeit, and Andrew Kifer took the win by pin at 190 over Devon Byars.
Joshua Howard of Emery would collect a win by pin over Jared Simmons at 285.
For the Lady Dinos, Brookleigh Unsworth got a win by pin over Shalice Fuentes at 130 pounds, Adrianne Lee claimed victory over Annzlie Bell by pin at 140 pounds, and Rickelle Collins took her match over Karen Whitmore by pin at 190 pounds.
Dazi Thatcher earned a win in her weight class (170) over Carbon’s Isabella Galarza.
For Carbon, the boy’s team will take on Richfield at home on Wednesday night and the girls will be on the road to take on Uintah.
The Emery boy’s team will welcome Union on Wednesday night which will be their final match of the regular season.
